Questions
What to ask before you book
What does the flat diagnostic cover?
The trip, the testing and the cause in plain words, then a repair price in writing before any work starts. The fee is the same whatever turns out to be wrong, and it is credited toward the repair if you approve it at the visit.
What if I say no to the repair?
Then you owe the diagnostic fee and nothing else. You keep the written price and can use it to compare, or to decide later.
Will you try to sell me a new system?
Only when a repair stops making sense, and then you get the reasons in writing next to the repair price. There's no sales team here to hand you to. The same person who tested the unit writes the price.
How old is too old to repair?
Age alone doesn't decide it. The cost of the repair, what else is wearing out, and how many times it has failed this season do. I put those in writing so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
Do you work on rentals?
Yes. Landlords with one to ten units are a big part of the work. I text you the cause and the price, you approve from your phone, and I arrange access with the tenant. Each unit gets its own invoice.
Do you do tune-ups?
Yes, in spring and fall. A tune-up is cleaning, testing and a written note on what's wearing out, not a sales visit. Ask when you book.
What do you not repair?
Commercial rooftop units, boilers, geothermal systems and new-construction ductwork. If a call is outside what one van can do, I tell you on the phone, not at the door.
How soon can you come?
I book in the order calls come in, and in a hot spell I try to fit homes with no cooling in first. I can't promise a day, and I won't say I can. Calls go to my phone during the hours at the top of the page.
Can I text you a photo first?
Yes. Text a photo of the unit's nameplate and what it's doing, and I can tell you on the phone whether it's something a repair can fix. The photo goes through your own messaging; the site stores nothing.
How do I pay?
When the work is done and tested, by card, check or cash. The invoice matches the written price unless you approved a change.
What if I smell gas or my carbon monoxide alarm sounds?
Get everyone out of the house and call 911 or your gas utility before anything else. Don't go back in to turn anything off. Call us after you're cleared to go home.
Still have a question?
Call, or text a photo. You'll reach the owner.
